We can control two things — how we perceive the world, and how we respond to it.
George Hobbs is a lover AND a fighter…
His LOVE of art, photography, and film brought Hobbs to Los Angeles over thirty years ago. He moved to Venice Beach and pursued a career in filmmaking, where he honed his craft of telling stories with pictures. In 2016 Hobbs decided to FIGHT. Dismayed by the division surrounding him, he started his Stick Figure Wisdom series to express complex concepts with simple symbols, thus transcending language.
A featured artist in The Hive Gallery’s “Rising Stars of L.A.”, Hobbs’ modern-primitive pieces have shown in many galleries across Los Angeles and Miami. Combining the appeal of cartoons with a sense of humor, Hobbs explores themes of love, religion, politics, relationships, and what it means to be human, all the while loving the creative process and fighting against those who would try to destroy it.
His photographs, sculptures, films and songs show the same clever perspective, as he examines our tenuous connections to the things that sustains us.
